I only teach beginning piano.
Watching someone discover the magic of the piano, those first tentative notes blossoming into beautiful melodies – it's incredibly rewarding. I've spent countless hours exploring these 88 keys myself, so I understand the the happiness and enjoyment but also the frustrations that come with learning.
We'll work together to build a strong foundation in your piano playing, covering essential techniques and some beginning music theory too! I'll tailor our lessons to your goals, ensuring you're always challenged and having fun – because learning and playing any instrument should be enjoyable!
So, let's get started and embark on this exciting musical adventure together!
Give me a call!
Instruction is held at my residence, or a location of your choosing.
When held at my residence in West Melbourne, the fee is twenty dollars ($20) per lesson.
If you prefer the lesson to be conducted at your residence or location of choosing, the cost then is forty dollars ($40) per lesson. The availability of lessons will depend on the distance from my residence.
I will NOT be offering any lessons via electronic web/video means. All instruction is in person only.
The length of lessons can fluctuate, typically falling within the range of thirty to sixty minutes (30 - 60+ minutes) or potentially exceeding the 60-minute mark .
If you have successfully completed prior practice sessions, please be prepared for longer lesson durations. During these extended sessions, we will delve into comprehensive reviews and introduce new content to further enhance your learning experience.
Nevertheless, if you encounter challenges in completing your weekly tasks, our primary focus will shift towards revisiting the current coursework. This may involve postponing the introduction of new material. At this stage, our customized lesson plan, designed to align with your abilities and schedule, can be adapted to optimize your efficiency in successfully completing your future assignments.
Each lesson plan is unique for each individual. It will encompass different items for each student dependent on their desired learning outcomes.
Each student will be assigned particular techniques to focus on during the week. Each successive week will build upon the achievements of the previous one, enhancing overall efficiency and fostering greater physical dexterity.
The purpose of playing the piano is to enjoy playing songs! Therefore, we'll develop a repertoire of songs, with some chosen by me and most selected by you. We'll delve into reading their musical scores and playing them in our preferred style, whether that means making modifications or playing them as originally written. This is where the fun begins – learning and playing the songs we're passionate about.
This is where we'll start learning why the notes we play blend together the way they do. We'll utilize notation paper to annotate our songs and begin documenting our musical journey.
As you grasp the intricacies of notes and music theory, and as you hone your keyboard skills, you'll embark on a personal journey towards creating your own music. This is when you'll start to convey your emotions through the music that flows from within you. It's the point where your artistic expression begins to take shape, and your own compositions come to life.
**CASH**
Payments Only.
Payment is due either before or after each lesson, depending on your preference. Please be prepared to settle the payment at the beginning or end of each session. If you have an outstanding payment from a previous lesson, it must be paid in full before your next lesson can take place.
Scheduling lessons can be challenging, especially when balancing work, school, life for that matter, and practice time. Weekly meetings didn't suit me due to time constraints and financial strain. Unfortunately, many teachers prefer weekly sessions. However, I aim to accommodate my students' needs by offering flexible scheduling options—whether weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly—to ensure that learning the piano is enjoyable, not stressful and accessible for everyone.
You are welcome to reschedule your lessons with advance notice, preferably at least TWO days before the scheduled lesson time, unless there's an emergency. Since there is no prepayment, you won't incur any cancellation fees. However, if rescheduling becomes frequent, it may be more practical to pause your musical learning journey until we can establish a more consistent schedule.
Please note that I also have the right to cancel or reschedule lessons. I will follow the same principles and provide you with advance notice as soon as I realize the need to make changes to the schedule.
Both you and I reserve the right to terminate instruction at any time. In the event of a termination, any outstanding balances must be settled.
Please note that adherence to these policies helps maintain a fair and efficient learning environment. If you have any questions or concerns regarding these policies, please feel free to discuss them with me. Thank you for choosing me as your piano instructor, and I look forward to our musical journey together!
